Aviation Safety Coordinator

Position Summary

The Safety Coordinator will assist with the implementation and continuous improvement of Clay Lacy Aviation’s Safety Management System (SMS) program in accordance with FAA and OSHA guidelines. This position monitors safety issues, conducts safety training and assists in audit findings. You will also conduct monthly hangar and OSHA inspections to identify hazards and assist in risk mitigation.

Responsibilities

  • Provides OSHA, general safety, and SMS training to employees.
  • Manage the recurrent training program.
  • Prepare educational seminars and webinars on a regular basis.
  • Review existing policies and procedures.
  • Conduct safety walks of the ramp and facilities to analyze safety risks.
  • Develop and maintain a monthly safety meeting for floor-level employees.
  • Work with HR to set up a new employee onboarding process for safety.
  • Conduct risk assessment on Safety items.
  • Enforce preventative measures.
  • Assists the Designated Employer Representative (DER) as an alternate
  • The above responsibilities are not exclusive to this position.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Safety or related field

Experience

1-year aviation experience in a related position.

Skills and Abilities

  • OSHA 10 and/or 30 General Industry certification(s)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • General knowledge of Microsoft Suite
  • Ability to perform a variety of manual tasks; follow oral and written directions; plan and complete assigned duties on a regular schedule
  • Ability to maintain good working relationships with others
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations appropriately
  • Upbeat and self-driven
  • Working knowledge of safety management information system
  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • Critical thinker and problem-solving skills
  • Team player
  • Preferred: Knowledge of FAA regulations, project management skills, Part 135 operations, aircraft, and charter operational experience and requirements
