  • Compensation: Hourly Rate $31.00 – $40.00

The Creative Writer will contribute to Clay Lacy’s communication strategies by writing compelling content for various audiences and marketing mediums, including employee and client communications, online articles, email campaigns, and more. The Creative Writer will work closely with the CLA marketing team, company leadership, and subject matter experts across the entire organization to research and gain a thorough understanding of the communication objectives at hand.

The ideal candidate is self-motivated, eager to ask questions, enjoys collaborating and problem-solving, and is creative! Audiences will vary from fellow employees to private jet aircraft owners and charter customers, to industry pilots and mechanics. Performance Objectives

  • Support the company’s communication goals by developing written content for Clay Lacy’s online presence, and client and employee communications across various platforms.
  • Showcase CLA’s exceptional culture by sharing stories about our people, their accomplishments, and their tireless pursuit of providing a legendary aviation experience.
  • Collaborate among CLA employees, company leaders, Subject Matter Experts, and external marketing vendors to help answer questions and increase awareness through concise, creative and effective communication.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of the company’s sales, marketing, and communication strategies.
  • Increase brand awareness.
  • Work with the marketing team on engagement reports and metrics for measuring communication success.
  • Become proficient in the use and capabilities of the company’s IT resources, including Clay Lacy’s CRM (Hubspot), CLA website (WordPress), and employee intranet (Microsoft Teams and Sharepoint).
  • Further both business aviation industry knowledge and personal development skills through workshops, and modern learning resources.
  • Continually seek, research, implement, and share new trends and communication best practices.


  • Seek new ideas and inspiration for news, storylines, and article concepts
  • Assist the Marketing Manager in maintaining content calendars
  • Conduct research and interviews to learn more about key messaging goals, and the target audience perspective, and contextualize writing in a compelling, easy-to-understand format.
  • Edit and refine written work for accurate spelling, punctuation, grammar, facts and figures, and story flow.
  • Develop copy for additional marketing needs such as marketing brochures, email campaigns, presentations, emails, website, and ads
  • Coordinate with outside vendors to achieve job responsibilities and marketing objectives, including our marketing agency, video production team, and social media manager.
  • For web-based content, work with the SEO Manager to identify opportunities to increase web traffic and incorporate key terms as applicable to optimize content for online search engines.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in the areas of journalism or communications. (Other experience considered for an applicant with strong writing and storytelling skills)
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • 1-2 year’s experience in creative writing preferred
  • An understanding of social media platforms and navigation
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications such as MS Office.
  • Critical thinker wants to understand the “why” and perspective of the target audience writing for, to create engaging points to draw in and entertain the reader
  • Able to multi-task across various projects and deadlines
  • Seeks feedback and constructive criticism on their work
  • Gives feedback and constructive criticism on their team’s work
