[New] Flight Support Manager | Van Nuys/Remote

Position Summary

The Manager of Flight Support will lead a team that is responsible for aircraft owners’ relationship and communication, trip support coordination, and flight dispatch activities. The position will support charter sales teams and owners’ requests and serve as a contact between various departments. The position reports to the VP of Owner & Charter Services and VP of Operations in a matrix organizational chart.

The position is located in Southern California or can be remote-based.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Flight Support Specialists Team and support the Operations Control Center (OCC) Activities.
  • Manage between three to six Flight Support personnel to reach their maximum potential
  • Responsible for scheduling days off, vacations, and the holiday schedule of the Flight Support Team,
  • Initial point of contact along with VP of Owner and Charter Services, for any on-call escalations.
  • Train all staff on procedures, protocols, and systems.
  • Coordinate aircraft schedules according to owner’s requirements, crew availability, mechanical requirements, weather, Customs request, and government regulation.
  • Responsible for the preparation, coordination, and communication of all applicable flight logistics including such items as hotel reservation, ground transportation, catering, over-flight permits, runway analyses, trip itineraries, FBO and ramp reservations, and others.
  • Assures that TSA and FAA Parts 91 and 135 regulations and requirements are met regarding the scheduling of trips. Ensure security checks and risk assessments are completed during the flight planning check.
  • Serves as liaison between the customer and various departments and external groups, including flight operations, accounting, security, customs, and others. Prepares and maintains the information supporting this communication between entities.
  • Resolves customer requests, questions, and concerns, which frequently require analysis of situations to determine the best use of resources.
  • Review the operational status of the fleet and irregular operation (IROP) recovery as well as threat analysis.
  • Supports team effort through courteous and professional interaction, excellent communication, and a genuine desire to service our clients.
  • Promotes and maintains a positive image of Clay Lacy Aviation and adheres to the highest level of ethics whether you are communicating verbally, in writing, or in person. Sensitive to the aircraft owners’ needs by using varying degrees of discretion.
  • Maintains a continuous follow-up on all trip details and arrangements (internal and external fleet trips). Maintains communications with the crew, aircraft owners, and passengers as necessary regarding the status of trip details and promotes customer surveys.
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned.

Education

BS/BA in business management or the aviation industry or equivalent work experience.

Experience

8-15+ years of experience in Charter Department and/or Flight Dispatch Activities.

Experience with customer relationships and support is a plus.

  • Experience leading, coaching, and mentoring employees
  • Experience with and proficiency in Talent Management and other HR functions
  • Continually educated and knowledgeable of aviation operations and regulatory changes
  • AOG handling experience.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good knowledge about FAR Part 135 and FAR Part 91 Operations

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Intermediate level of computer literacy.
