Accountant, Senior | Maintenance Department

Position Summary

The Senior Accountant will oversee various general ledger accounts for all Maintenance locations (Santa Ana, Oxford, and Van Nuys) Duties include reconciling various inventory accounts, analyzing revenues, and keeping multiple systems in balance. A successful candidate combines excellent analytical skills with a good knowledge of accounting principles to analyze data, reports and variances.

Duties include ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in all accounting tasks. ensures that accounting records are maintained in accordance with GAAP and company policies. This position will research, document, and communicate accounting conclusions in compliance with GAAP and company policies. Key responsibilities include month-end close, account reconciliations, financial statement analyses, and process improvement of accounting processes.

Responsibilities

  • Support operations for General Ledger and the monthly close process.
  • Ensure accounting records are prepared and maintained in accordance with GAAP and the company’s accounting policies, chart of accounts, and related accounting principles and practices, and that subordinate ledgers reconcile with the general ledger.
  • Prepare periodic financial statements and analyses.
  • Prepare various financial analysis for Finance Manager.
  • Review and approve work order cost and profits reports and research unusual margins
  • Develop methods of providing accounting data for non-standard reports and statements.
  • Collaborate with management to develop schedules, procedures, and systems to enable timely accumulation, adjustment, and reporting of financial data.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives for development, enhancement, upgrade, and maintenance of accounting systems.
  • Ensure and review quality and efficiency of account reconciliations
  • Prepare and verify the accuracy of the information, journal entries, and ledgers.
  • Establish internal control procedures to maintain company financial integrity.
  • Resolve escalated issues from departments with internal and external customers.
  • Develop and ensure adherence to internal control documentation relating to the General Ledger Department.
  • Verify accuracy of expenses and GL coding misclassifications.
  • Support internal and external audit processes.
  • Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation as required.
  • Prepare and hold periodic meetings with Maintenance Staff to review open work orders
  • Support Maintenance Billing staff
  • Active participation and contribution in the annual fiscal budget process and financial projections
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by the manager
  • Must be able to pass drug screening and background checks.

Education

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting preferred but not required.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5+ years of accounting or finance.
  • Aviation experience is preferred but not required.

Skills and Abilities

  • Great Plains/Microsoft Dynamics experience strongly preferred
  • Corridor experience is a plus but not required
  • Strong analytical skills essential
  • Advanced MS Excel skills including V-lookups and pivot tables
  • Ability to prioritize and organize workflow
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
