Shipping and Receiving Supervisor

Position Summary

Shipping/Receiving supervisors ensure the smooth and efficient operations of shipping and receiving departments. They are responsible for coordinating the activities of employees engaged in material handling, shipping, storage, and transportation. Adheres and promotes the Clay Lacy Vision, Mission, and Values daily.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise & coordinate activities of employees engaged in verifying the accuracy of and keeping records on incoming & outgoing shipments.
  • Study shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine
  • shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules
  • Determine space requirements & position of shipment in trucks
  • Pick up and ship orders with maximum efficiency and accuracy per customer and shipping requirements
  • Reconcile all receiving discrepancies and make recommendations for preventing
  • Package items using approved packaging methods and material ensuring integrity during transit.
  • Weigh and accurately record items on pick sheets and cartons
  • Load and offload trucks using forklift or hand cart ensuring that all safety measures are followed
  • Interact with customers and suppliers in a polite and professional manner
  • Assist co-workers in completion of assignments whenever and wherever possible
  • Perform cycle counts and submit inventory adjustments to the Purchasing manager
  • Inspect loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications & seal in compliance with international shipping requirements
  • Inspect material handling equipment for defects and decide for necessary repairs
  • Directs movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage and work areas and ensures that accuracy of bin location in database
  • Report weight & shipping charges
  • Prepare bills of lading as necessary
  • Maintain a clean, efficient & well-organized warehouse
  • Train staff
  • Enforce company policies & practices
  • Perform additional tasks & responsibilities as required
  • Provide direction to other staff members

Education

Associates or equivalent aviation work experience.

Experience

Five-plus years shipping and receiving experience with a minimum of three years of supervisory experience. Valid driver’s license and clean DMV record.
