Searching for Hangar Space Near New York City? Discover the Waterbury-Oxford Airport.

January 10, 2024

The best general aviation airport for business aviation in the Northeast.

As a business and cultural center, New York City is one of the most popular destinations for business jet aircraft in the world. Like every other large metro area, land is valuable and hard to find. Finding space at airports to build new or larger aircraft hangars that can accommodate today’s modern large-cabin, long-range business jets is even harder. Today’s business aviation fleet is growing, but hangar availability is getting more difficult to secure. For those looking for hangar space close to New York City, Waterbury-Oxford Airport is a well-established business aviation airport a short 10-minute flight north.

Waterbury-Oxford Airport (KOXC) Ideally Located

Located between the New York and Boston metro areas, Connecticut’s Waterbury-Oxford Airport offers many value-add benefits while answering the growing demand for new aircraft hangars in the Northeastern United States. The airport features a recently upgraded 5,801-foot (1,768-meter) long by 100-foot (30.5-meter) wide runway with a new asphalt-grooved surface, new taxiways and lighting, EMAS arrestor system and ILS approach.  In 2022, the airport also opened a U.S. Customs facility enabling overseas-arriving aircraft to clear customs there.

Clay Lacy Develops New FBO and Corporate Hangar Complex

In 2022, Clay Lacy Aviation announced plans to develop 16-acres with 120,000 square feet of hangar capacity, 15,000 square feet of FBO and office, 3.6-acres of ramp, and a 40,000-gallon fuel farm at the Waterbury-Oxford Airport.

The first 40,000-square-foot hangar is scheduled to open in the first half of 2024 with the second and third 40,000-square-foot hangars scheduled to open closely thereafter.

Features and Amenities of Clay Lacy’s FBO and Hangar Complex

Conceived, designed and built with today’s largest and most modern business jets in mind, the new hangar complex boasts a long list of amenities designed to accommodate aircraft such as the Gulfstream G700, Bombardier Global 7500, and Dassault Falcon 10X.

  • 29-foot hangar doors
  • Heated hangars
  • Direct drive-up access to aircraft
  • 24/7 operations
  • Covered automobile parking
  • Electric vehicle charging stations

Across the business aviation industry, significant up-gauging is happening with new, larger aircraft being produced. Combined with the lack of space to expand current metropolitan hangar and airport facilities, the Waterbury-Oxford Airport is ideally located to provide modern, state-of-the-art, corporate aviation hangar facilities, serving the needs of aircraft owners and operators.
