Get to know Joe Barber, Vice President of Fleet Development

Clay Lacy attracts the best and the brightest, highly accomplished professionals with vision as well as expertise. Joe Barber, our Vice President of Fleet Development, is one example.

In 2018, the NBAA named Joe to its first Business Aviation Top 40 Under 40 list, which recognizes young professionals for their career accomplishments and dedication to our industry. This honor is a reflection of Joe’s talents and drive, and the exceptional contributions he makes to our company, our aircraft management clients and to business aviation. A Certified Aviation Manager (CAM), Joe is a member NBAA’s Business Aviation Management Committee. He is helping to develop the next edition of the NBAA Management Guide, and in 2020 and 2021 will co-chair the NBAA Leadership Conference focusing on talent retainment and recruitment.

Joe has spent years defining, analyzing and implementing efficiencies for aircraft owners around the globe. He works closely with corporate jet owners, C-level executives, directors of aviation, chief pilots, and DOMs to assemble outstanding private flight departments. He is committed to enhancing the aircraft ownership experience for every client.

As one of his colleagues wrote, “Joe operates with the highest levels of integrity, always looking to drive process improvement and fostering a team environment that creates value for our aircraft owners. He sets an example of continual professional development, exploration and implementation of new technologies, thinking ahead 10 to 20 years to what this segment of our industry will look like, and how it will need to function.”

Joe was mentored early in his career, and today he leads the Southern California Aviation Association’s Mentorship Committee. “I find it personally gratifying to be able to help someone in our industry,” he says, “especially when my mentees come back to me years down the road and tell me what they are doing, and how their mentorship helped.”
